The history (from 1989-2005)

Nelson Tan Yan Cong, a young capable person who was borned in the year of 1989. Nelson lived in Singapore ever since he was borned, and he is currently living in Choa Chu Kang, which is located at the western part of Singapore since the year 1999. Nelson also lived in Clementi in the earlier part of his life.

== About Nelson And His Family ==
Nelson was borned at the 1st day of November at 4.23AM. He was borned in the KK Hospital and was then been brought up by his parents, named Ong Eng Lan and Tan Siak Heong. The family members consist of Nelson's mother, Nelson's Father, Nelson's bigger Brother (Tan Da Yang) and himself. Ever since he was borned, Nelson had a happy family and Nelson also had a group of good friends that guided him along whenever he was sad or happy.

== Nelson's School Life ==

+Childhood+
Nelson started his education life at the age of 4 (Year 1993). He was admitted to Clementi PAP kindergarten and had gotten his first Kindergarten Certification at the age of 6 (Year 1995). He was then posted to Pei Tong Primary school (PTPS) the following year. During his third year of his primary school life, He moved to his new house in Choa Chu Kang.
From the day he moved to his new house, he had to take his father's car (A Second-Hand
Proton Saga) to school every morning with his brother, and going back from his school was
more troublesome for him as he had to take the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRT) back to the Choa Chu Kang Bus interchange, then bus 300 back home. This went on until Primary 4, when Nelson changed his Primary School to Concord Primary School (CPS), a new school that was opened on the same year when Nelson was admitted to this school.

Nelson was in the EM2 stream when he was in Concord Primary School, and he was a hardworking student who could always finish his homework or assignments before the dateline, which was settled by the teachers. Mdm Poh was appointed to be his form teacher in his class during Primary 5 and 6. She taught Nelson both English and Mathematics in the school and she was a caring and attentive teacher to Nelson and his classmates. During his Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) in 2001, Nelson had gotten a '''score of 206''' out of 300.

Before getting the PSLE results, Nelson made Teck Whye Secondary School as his first choice for his secondary school admission.

+The later Part of His Life+
Nelson went to Teck Whye Secondary School for his further education from the year 2002-2005. He was in the express stream and he managed to complete his secondary school education at the age of 16.

During his first year of his secondary school life, he was admitted into class 1B, which was known to be the second best class in the level. During this year, he managed to become a trainee prefect under recommendation from Mdm Hu, who was also a form teacher of the school. Every trainee prefect had an assigned senior prefect to guide and to train them to be able lead, and as for Nelson, Aisha (1988-2003) was selected to be his guider during his prefect life. However, Nelson was not selected to become a prefect after the evaluation period was over.

Nelson participated in many school events like the Secondary One Orientation Camp and the Sports Day Event. He also joined the Chinese Orchestra and the Chinese Chess Club at the same year. During this year, Nelson scored well for his End Of Year Examination during that year and he managed to be promoted to secondary two.

Nelson was promoted to Secondary 2A at the following year. During that year, he did not study much and he did not scored well in his results. His class position was near the bottom even if he still scored better compared to the previous years. He got the improvement award from the school during the same year. Nelson opted for combined science, D&T and Geography as his subjects for secondary 3 and 4 and he got himself a place in Secondary 3B at the following year.

+Nelson’s CCA+
Chinese Orchestra was the main CCA for Nelson since he was admitted into the school. Under the influence of his brother, Nelson made Erhu as his instrument in the Chinese Orchestra. During the first few months of his CO life, he didn’t have a good teacher to teach him. He only started to learn when Lee Bao Shun, who was the senior concertmaster of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, became his teacher. Under Mr. Lee’s strict and firm supervision, Nelson improved tremendously after a few months. Nelson was then selected to join the seniors in the Chinese Orchestra as a GaoHu player in Secondary Two.

Nelson then participated his first national competition, the Singapore Youth Festival Chinese Orchestra Central-Judging 2003. Nelson was still not skilled during that period as he was told to become a GaoHu player only on the same year of the competition. The school’s Chinese Orchestra did not performed as expected and the CO got a Certificate Of Participation during that year. The school then decided to change all the instructors and the Chinese Orchestra had an evolution since then.

During secondary three, Nelson was considered the most senior player in the Chinese Orchestra as all the other seniors was expelled from the CCA. Nelson was selected by his Erhu teacher to be the concertmaster in the Chinese Orchestra. During Secondary 4, the CO got their Silver Medal in the Singapore Youth Festival Chinese Orchestra Central-Judging 2005 with its Huan Le De Huai Bei and Xing Kong. This was the first time the school’s Chinese Orchestra got it’s Silver medal and it was the best results ever since the school participated in the Singapore Youth Festival Chinese Orchestra Central-Judging competition. The last performance Nelson participated with the Chinese Orchestra was the School’s Public Concert 2005. It was the last performance before Nelson retires from the Chinese Orchestra to concentrate on his studies.

The present. (2005-2007)

Nelson is currently promoted into the course Digital Media in Singapore Polytechnic, School of Media, Information Technology. He is currently a year 2 student in the course. More writeups will only be written after Nelson graduates from his course of study.
